White Burgundy
Romain Bouchard, Chablis 1er Cru Vau de Vey 2010
Romain’s Vau de Vey is one of the outstanding 1er Cru Chablis—his 2007 won the International Wine Challenge Chablis Trophy—and is of Grand Cru quality. Hand crafted and biodynamic, the 2010 is superb: excellent fruit, good minerality and well balanced acidity. Really top Chablis 1er Cru.

Domaine Borgeot Bourgogne Aligoté 2010
Burgundy's 'other' white grape, Aligoté, can produce fantastic value wines. Made from vines on the chalk soil near the village of Bouzeron, home to the very best Aligoté. The nose and the palate have lovely citrusy and white flower characteristics. This was a best-seller in our last offer and we expect it to be at least popular in 2010.

Domaine Jean Pascal et Fils Bourgogne Blanc 2010
Jean Pascal started growing vines in Puligny-Montrachet back in 1920. Combining excellent terroir, generations of experience and the latest technology (they use very clever corks that prevent premature oxidisation, the scourge of white Burgundy in the late 1990s) the Domaine has gone from strength to strength now producing some of the finest wines in the appellation. This, their entry level wine, could easily be mistaken for a Puligny-Montrachet and is astounding value: honeyed, stunningly vibrant with great purity of fruit. A real bargain.

Etienne Sauzet Bourgogne Blanc Tufera 2010
Sauzet is one of the top names in Burgundy, famous for producing some of the finest Grand Crus in Puligny Montrachet. The vineyards have been farmed organically since 2006 but all switched to biodynamic about two years ago. In Burgundy there is great value to be found in buying the generic Bourgogne Blanc and Rouge from the very top producers—this is a classic example. All the Sauzet expertise, equipment and terroir goes into producing an extraordinarily affordable yet classy wine. We expect this to sell out very quickly. Rich, round and juicy white Burgundy- it is almost impossible to believe this is simply a Bourgogne Blanc.

Domaine Simon Bize & Fils, Savigny-les-Beaune les Bourgeots 2010
The Bize family have been making wine in Savigny les Beaune since 1880 and the very colourful Patrick, the latest Bize, is considered by many to be best producer in the region. It’s not hard to see why. His wines are fine and elegant, rather than powerful and over-extracted, and offer stunning value. We tried several of his wine but this Savigny-les-Beaune really stood out for perfectly embodying the terroir whilst offering great value. Really vibrant fruit with delicious purity and acidity. This is really classic, elegant Burgundy.
"This is without doubt still Savigny’s leading domaine."—

Morey-Coffinet Chassagne-Montrachet Vieilles Vignes 2010
One of the younger Domaines in Chassagne-Montrachet, Morey-Coffinet is now run by Michel Morey and his son Thibault. The wines are vibrant, exciting and modern tasting. Thibault explained that the wines are made to represent the terroir and to be drunk young, when fresh. They do however have potential to age. Having tried the entire range it is clear that this is a Domaine to watch: all had great character and represented fantastic value (I wouldn’t be surprised if the prices start to head up considerably with all the recognition the wines are now receiving).

Domaine Borgeot Puligny-Montrachet, Les Charmes, 2010
One of the very best appellations in the Cote d'Or, producing rich buttery whites with great potential for ageing. This complex and concentrated grower Puligny has a nose of fresh butter and citrus fruits, oranges and lemons. Superb.
75cl Bottles, Case of 12: €279.00 (In Bond)
Domaine Michelot Meursault Village Clos st Felix 2010
One of Meursault’s most well-regarded estates. Since 1993 the wines have been made by the very affable Jean-Francois Mestre who has been responsible for producing successive, high quality Meursaults characterised by great opulent, fleshy fruit balanced by good underlying acidity. His are serious wines for drinking in the medium term. This was one of the stars of our tasting trip to Burgundy—inexhaustible length, creamy fruit and a hint of spice on the finish. A wine to really enjoy over the next 5-7 years. A benchmark Meursault.

Etienne Sauzet Puligny-Montrachet Village 2010
An exceptional Puligny-Montrachet from the famed Sauzet family. A tiny yield has produced a wine of incredible complexity, steely, pithy fruit with lovely length. A classic Puligny Village. The wine is alive, absolutely delicious full of minerality. This is a very serious wine.

Red Burgundy
Domaine Bachelet-Maranges 1er Cru La Boutiere Rouge 2010
These two startlingly young brothers, Marc and Alexandre, come from a long line of winemakers, including their grandfather who founded the famous Bernard Bachelet et Fils in Chassagne. The produce very low yield wines without the use of any herbicide. This wine from their sixth vintage in Dezize-les-Maranges is delicious—made from 65 year old vines it is well structured, with good supple tannins, lovely elegant fruit and great length. This will mature well.
"
The Bachelets make wines that are classically styled, emphasizing the inherent freshness, complexity and minerality in each cuvée... This is a new producer to follow."—

Domaine Jean Pascal et Fils Volnay 1er Cru 2010
Lovely, floral Volnay 1er Cru from this very impressive producer. This is elegant feminine Pinot Noir at its very best. This and their Bourgogne Blanc come highly recommended.

DOMAINE BORGEOT
The Borgeot brothers, Pascal and Laurent, are fourth generation winemakers in Remigny, opposite the village of Santenay. They strive to ensure that yields are kept low naturally and their fruit ripens to perfection.
The result is wines of excellent quality and a reputation to match—they often receive the children of more famous producers as apprentices—and both Parker and the Wine Spectator have praised their wines over the years. We were astounded by the consistency across an array of different appellations.
Domaine Borgeot Santenay 1er Cru, Les Gravieres 2010
50 year old vines produce a wine that has a purity of fruit and a richness that can be enjoyed young; it is full of cherries & raspberries but will also age with a lovely touch of minerality. The tannins are noble & ripe with this vintage giving it an added smooth richness. Superb wine.
