Castro Baroña Albariño | Rias Baixas
2010
A fine example of Spain’s top white grape variety made by Castro Baroña in the heart of Salnés, probably the best region for producing the extremely fashionable Albariño. Very elegant and summery Galician wine with lots of character. To be drunk over the next couple of years.

Our tasting notes
Pale silvery colour. Aromas of peaches and tropical white fruit. Full expressive, fruit-driven wine with a nice oiliness and well-balanced acidity. Nice fresh wine that should be drunk young with goat cheese, shrimp and other shellfish.Wine data

About Albariño
Albariño has enjoyed great popularity of late but before the establishment of the Rias Baixas appellation in 1986 this grape variety was hardly known. Now it is grown mainly in the Galicia region of Spain, where it’s at its best in Rias Baixas, and the north of Portugal. A few Australian producers have also started experimenting with it in various blends. At its finest Albariño is capable of producing wines of great sophistication and character.
