Churchill’s Port | Oporto

Johnny Graham of the Grahams port family founded Churchill’s in the 1980s, the first new Port Shippers in Oporto for 100 years. Johnny is acknowledged as the best blender and taster of port in the business and his 'boutique' firm produces some of the best and most individual ports made today. His Reserve NV is cut above the other major shippers and his 10 year old tawny the best on the market as Parker confirms. Churchills crusted port is fine vintage port in all but name and his 1997 vintage is as good as it gets.....

Reserve NV

This vintage character reserve is youthful with lots of fruit and exceptional balance while showing the backbone and structure that is Churchills are renowned for. The 20cl bottles are ideal for presents or just for two after dinner.

10 Year Old Tawny

Crusted Port

Bottled in 1998 this is a full-bodied rich blended port with all the characteristics of good mature vintage port at a fraction of the price. Perfect for now or laying down for another 5 years.

Vintage 1997

With a much reduced yield the 1997 vintage produced very concentrated wines—this is a very rich, brooding, well structured and harmonious vintage port that is very approachable now but will continue to age beautifully for the next 10-15 years.

About the British in Oporto

The British port trade in Oporto is centered around the ‘Factory House,’ a wonderful dilapidated building where the newspapers are kept for 20 years. There are two dining rooms for every meal: the first for the food which is consumed quickly before the members retire to an identical dining room to linger over their port.

 

Prices are all-inclusive for deliveries within the Republic of Ireland. Minimum total order is 1 case (12 bottles of 75cl equivalent) and may be mixed 2 cases (24 bottles of 75cl equivalent) of your choice.
