Savigny-les-Beaune, Domaine les Guetottes
Two white and two red Burgundies from different vintages from the Janny’s fantastic one-hectare vineyard in Savigny les Beaune, one of the greatest sources of good value red wine in the Côte d’Or.
As Simon Hoggart writes in the Spectator “As the prices of Burgundies continue to spiral, wise wine merchants are making greater efforts to fossick out bargains ...this special offer of Savigny-les-beaune Domaine les Guettotes from a tiny vineyard owned by the Janny family.... is a good way to stock up on very drinkable Burgundies at a very reasonable price and to compare and contrast four different wines from the same Burgundian vineyard.”
Delicious, affordable Burgundy for laying down and for drinking now.
Savigny-les-Beaune, Domaine les Guetottes Red
2007
A smooth yet powerful Pinot Noir—berry fruits with a hint of spice. This is ideal for drinking now, from the small but excellent 2007 vintage.
Young, fresh wine with dark red fruit flavours and a hint of liquorice and leather. Ready now, but it will certainly improve over the next few years.

About the Janny family
The Janny’s are a young dynamic team that are based in Peronne at the heart of Mâcon country. Since 2005 they have run “Les Guetottes” in Savigny-les-Beaune. The vineyard is rocky and sandy soil and is mostly limestone based. Savigny-les-Beaune, a small town near Beaune has its own appellation of 235 Ha for both red and a little white. The village is divided by the river Rhoin, with vineyards on the south side on the sandy soil producing wines similar to the Beaune area, but distinguished by a lighter flavour. Those on the Northern side are on stonier soil. An engraving made in 1703 describes the wine as ‘nourishing, theological and disease defying.’
