Haut Charmes | Sauternes
2009
A tiny parcel of the surplus production from the most famous of all Sauternes vineyards. The Château does not make a second sweet wine, so this is made with the same noble grapes as the Grand Vin—which are picked individually on 7-10 separate occasions as the botrytis sets in—and are then aged in oak at the Château. 2009 was one of the great Sauternes vintages and the Grand Vin produced a legendary wine that will be talked about for decades. It will though currently cost you €600+ for a single 75cl bottle. This however is Nectar at a very affordable price.
37.5cl Half-Bottles, Case of 12: €227.40 37.5cl Half-Bottle €19.20
Our tasting notes
Pale gold with an extraordinary complex nose of summer fruits, peaches and apricots. Rich and concentrated—it drinks exceptionally well now and will last for another 10 years. The 2005 in bottles is possibly more forward and expressive—the 2007 in half bottles has little more weight. Both are a real treat.Wine data
