A real rarity: mature Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru from the Hospices de Nuits, the charity auction which takes places every year in Nuits-St-Georges. Only a very limited amount of wine is made for these events by the top producers in the region, and the very top cuvées fetch extraordinarily high prices. A unique opportunity to try a mature example from these very high quality burgundies. The magnums in particular are very special, and a fine example of really high quality red burgundy from a very good vintage in the Cote de Nuits.

Our tasting notes

An immensely appealing, mature cherry pinot nose followed by a richness and complexity that is almost overwhelming. A wine to treat with great respect. It gets better and better until the bottle is finished. Nowhere else in the world can make pinot quite like this....

About Hospices de Nuits

The Hospices de Nuits is a charitable foundation established in 1692 in Nuits-Saint-Georges in Burgundy's Côte de Nuits district. Like the much larger Hospices in Beaune the Hospices de Nuits is endowed with vines, about 22 acres in Nuits-St-Georges and Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru, and holds an auction each year to raise money for the foundation. This takes place on the Sunday preceding Palm Sunday, following a tasting at the Clos de Vougeot. The wines are invariably of high quality and because of their rarity can fetch extremely high price tags.

 

Prices are all-inclusive for deliveries within the Republic of Ireland. Minimum total order is 1 case (12 bottles of 75cl equivalent) and may be mixed 2 cases (24 bottles of 75cl equivalent) of your choice.
