About Bordeaux
Since Roman times the world's largest and most famous wine region—the Latin poet Ausonius had a vineyard here, hence Château Ausone. However the most famous Grands Crus represent just 5% of the total production; there are more than 5000 châteaux and many hundreds of communal wines. The 1855 classification of Grands Crus and Crus Bourgeois is no longer an entirely reliable guide, with some Crus Bourgois wines clearly of classed growth quality and vice versa. Most recently some 70 Crus Bourgeois have been declassified, with some suing. 2004 has turned out to be a much better vintage—possibly a classic vintage—than was originally thought.
Prices are all-inclusive for deliveries to mainland Republic of Ireland. Minimum total order is 2 cases (24 bottles of 75cl equivalent). For details, please read our Delivery/Collection Information and Terms & Conditions.
