Main Divide Pinot Noir
Canterbury New Zealand
2009
For under €20 a bottle the best Pinot Noir comes from New Zealand not Burgundy. Main Divide is the sister label of Pegasus Bay, one of the very best estates in New Zealand (5 stars from Robert Parker), and makes a sensational Pinot Noir. With intense rich fruit and great structure, this a far cry from the often thin and joyless red Burgundies at a similar price.
The Press
‘A fascinating European-shaped wine with forest floor notes and lovely spice and charm. When it comes to price nothing from Burgundy comes close.’—Matthew Jukes, The Week MagazineOur tasting notes
Intense pinot red with aromas and flavours of cherries, red berry fruits—raspberries, mulberries and blackberries. Ripe, fine-grained tannins give great structure, length and balance—hints of spice and chocolate. Very well made Pinot.Wine data

About Canterbury
Canterbury is on the central east coast of the South Island and is divided up into three main regions: Waipara, west Christchurch and Banks peninsula. It is very cool and dry meaning that it is perfect for growing Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
