Pierre Olivier | Mercurey
2005
A lovely, rich and mature Chardonnay from the Côte Challonaise region of Burgundy, where the Mercurey wines stand alone in both quality and price. 2005 was a very good vintage in the region and this wine is now at its peak for the next couple of years. Tastes like much more expensive Burgundy. A Bargain.

Our tasting notes
Lemon, straw colour with aromas of honey and a hint of spice. Well made Chardonnay that is maturing beautifully with loads of character. Excellent fruit, weight and balance. Much more than a poor man’s Mersault....Wine data

About Mercurey
It is the most important village in the Côte Chalonnaise district of Burgundy. Most of the production is Red wines made from Pinot Noir but a small quantity of unusually scented white wine from Chardonnay is also made. Mercurey produces as much wine as the rest of the Côte Chalonnaise combined.
