Rocca di Tufo | Orvieto Classico
2008
A stunning, crisp and refreshing white produced specially for us by master wine maker Giovanni Dubini at the Palazzone estate. This is the best Orvieto we have ever tasted. It is a serious wine that will improve with age. A benchmark for quality and very good value.

Our tasting notes
A delicate straw colour with a full flavoured nose. Hints of lemon but much more than that. Full bodied with good balance, acidity and complexity. A proper wine—no ordinary Orvieto.Wine data

The Dubinis and Orvieto
The Dubini family bought the Palazzone Estate in Umbria in the late 1960s with it in a complete state of dilapidation. They quickly reconstructed the abandoned casa colonica on the property for use as a family home and planted 25 hectares of vines. Their first small vintage was produced by the second generation, Giovanni and Ludovico, in 1982 and since then, through hard work and great attention to detail (all grapes are hand-picked with extraordinary care), they have managed to turn Palazzone into one of the most significant labels in Umbria. Orvieto, a wine region historically renowned for its dry and sweet white wines, is by far the most important DOC in Umbria. The Classico region located around the small Etruscan city of Orvieto lies predominantly on fertile volcanic and tufa soil, which lends great character to its wines.
