Rustenberg Schoongezicht White
Stellenbosch South Africa
2010
Rustenberg is one of South Africa’s oldest ( C.17th) and most prestigious estates, and was once owned by John X Merriman, the last Prime Minister of the Cape Colony. This exciting and unusual blend of Semillon, Viognier & Roussanne from Stellenbosch, South Africa’s top wine region, is delicious and drinking perfectly now. It goes very well with spicy food and should appeal to all fans of Southern Rhône whites.
Our tasting notes
Golden colour. Lovely floral and orange notes on the nose. The palette is packed with fresh stone fruits, lemon a hint of nut and pressed flowers. Absolutely delicious with a very long finish, and extremely well-made wine for under €15.Wine data

About Stellenbosch:
Stellenbosch is a lovely university town east of Cape Town which was established in the late C17th century. It is now probably South Africa's most famous and important wine region. The overall terroir consists of a Mediterranean climate, with warm and dry growing seasons, and soil that varies throughout the region, from sandy alluvial in the valley floor to deep granite on the hillsides. Stellenbosch is also home to South Africa’s only university offering professional degrees in viticulture and oenology. As a result of the phylloxera crisis at the turn of the 20th Century the university became particularly important and its research has had a profound effect on wine growing practices in the region.
