A remarkable and delicious find from the Tagonius winery just outside Madrid. After tasting hundreds of moderate wines, a discovery like this makes it all worth while! Up until now this wine has only really found its way to the best restaurants in Madrid, Barcelona and San Sebastien. It is a far better wine than anything we have tasted so far from neighbouring Rioja. Robert Parker rightly sings its praises—it is remarkable value for money.

Our tasting notes

Bright deep purple with complex aromas of sweet cherries and burnt fruit. Rich fresh fruit with excellent balance and a really good finish. The perfect blend of Tempranillo and the classic grape varieties. Fully mature, well made—a terrific glass of wine. If only all wine at this price were as good as this...

100 years ago the area around Madrid was one of Spain's finest wine growing regions with its high altitude and poor soil—Galician fisherman travelled to Madrid to trade their fish for fine wine. With the advent of modern winemaking and wineries, the area is now undergoing a renaissance.
